BECOME A TEAM

General FAQs

How do I apply to become a CARES Team?

The first step in the application process is for both you and your teammate to complete an Application. After both applications have been submitted, the regional contact will review your applications and determine if you should move to the next step, which is a phone interview. During the phone interview, the regional contact will review the CARES program with you in more detail and answer any questions you have.

If you and your teammate decide to continue with the application process, the remaining steps include:

  • Complete the second part of the application, which is called the "Final Docs" and includes three references and a credit/criminal background check. If you have questions or concerns about the credit check or the background check, please ask your regional contact during the phone interview.
  • A face-to-face interview with you, your teammate, and an area leader. This interview will be scheduled during business hours and will last 2-2.5 hours. Both teammates will need to be present at the interview. Children should not attend the interview with you.
  • If you are approved as a CARES team at the face-to-face interview, we will determine the best community match for you and your teammate based on the open apartment communities at that time.
  • Once the "best fit" apartment community is determined, a placement interview will be scheduled with you, an area leader, and the apartment manager. This interview will be scheduled during business hours and will last approximately one hour. Both teammates will need to be present at the interview.
  • If all parties are in agreement after the manager interview, a move-in date will be scheduled.
